Initially, a typical windrow will exhibit a moisture content as high as 70%.
As the composting process proceeds, this level will drop to below 30%. When that point is reached, we
water the windrow. The final product has not proved to be a dust problem.
• Transfer building: We received a proposal to install a misting system for dust control in the transfer
station on 8/18/05. This proposal is presently under review by engineering and management to insure that
it will: 1) do the job, 2) can be installed expeditiously, 3) is cost effective and 4) can be budgeted at this
time. Preliminary review indicates that we should have something in place by year end.
I will keep you informed of any change or progress occurs. Should you have further questions, or if I may be of
any help, feel free to contact me.
Harry Miller
MRF Manager
(209) 832-2355 Ext. 311
FAX (209) 932-3765
8/19/2005
