The following is an itemized list of hazardous waste violations that have not been <br /> addressed for ESCALON UNIFIED SCHOOL DIST as of November 30, 2021. <br /> Open violations from August 06, 2021 inspection <br /> ❑ This violation was corrected ❑This violation will be corrected by(date): <br /> ❑ Supporting documents included <br /> Describe actions taken or will be taken to correct violation: <br /> Violation#403-Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing <br /> hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: The following open hazardous waste storage containers were observed on-site: <br /> -One blue metal 240 gallon portable tank of used oil was observed open outside the diesel tank dike <br /> -One black metal 55 gallon drum of oily absorbent was observed inside the shop without the locking ring <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A container holding hazardous waste shall always be closed during transfer and <br /> storage, except when it is necessary to add or remove waste. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed <br /> when not adding or removing waste. Provide a corrective action statement and supporting documentation to the <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department within 30 days. <br /> ❑ This violation was corrected ❑This violation will be corrected by(date): <br /> ❑ Supporting documents included <br /> Describe actions taken or will be taken to correct violation: <br /> Violation#406-Empty hazardous waste or material container greater than 5 gallons not managed per this <br /> section. <br /> OBSERVATION: Two blue and one black metal 55 gallon empty drums were observed on the east side of the <br /> diesel tank dike without the word'empty'or a date emptied. One container was labeled as motor oil. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE: Empty containers which previously held a hazardous material, including hazardous <br /> waste must be managed per Title 22 California Code of Regulations(CCR)section 66261.7. Refer to this section <br /> and California Department of Toxic Substances Control guidance for more information. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately label all empty containers with the date they were emptied and manage <br /> within one year of that date. Manage the container per Title 22 CCR section 66261.7. Provide a corrective action <br /> statement and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD) <br /> within 30 days. <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br />
