Additionally, I have asked the University to issue a short Universal Waste Training for all employees, but that is pending
approval and on hold (University approval/pandemic/many employees not working). Although not necessarily required,
I think it would be good information for all employees. I will send a copy of that training as Part 2 of this email, in case
you have questions about it. Thank you.
Mike Ubick, CSP, RSO
Assistant Director, Environmental Health and Safety
Enterprise Risk Management, Division of Business & Finance
UI lVZRSfTY OF THE
PACIFIC
3601 Pacific Avenue Stockton, CA 95211
phone. 209.946.7645 ERM main line. 209.932.3011 1 fax 209.954.2806
email: mubick(a)pacific.edu
From: Baker, Lydia <Ibaker@sigov.org>
Sent: Friday, April 3, 2020 4:04 PM
To: Mike Ubick<mubick@PACIFIC.EDU>
Subject: Return to Compliance-3601 Pacific Avenue
Hello Mike,
I am following up on the RTC for UOP main campus. There are still 7 open violations remaining. Here is what I need to
close out those violations (I've included the corrected by dates since some have not come yet):
#102-(Completion date provided: 2/28/2020) Please provide a copy of the transformer oil analytical & hazardous waste
determination
-What happened to the refrigerant that was removed from the mini-fridge?
-Please provide the analytical & hazardous waste determination for the metal fines
#104-(Completion date provided: 4/30/2020) Please provide a copy of the source reduction plan
#118-(Completion date provided: 3/31/2020) Please provide a roster and syllabus demonstrating that relevant
hazardous waste training has been received by all applicable employees
#208-(Completion date provided: 3/31/2020) Please provide a roster and syllabus demonstrating that individuals
performing treatment in the lab have been properly trained
#301-(Completion date provided: 12/31/2019) Please provide a statement and/or supporting documentation that the
milling machine is not leaking oil anymore
#303-(Completion date provided: none) Were the eyewash bottles replaced yet?
#709-(Completion date provided: 4/30/2020) Please provide a roster and syllabus demonstrating that individuals who
handle universal waste are properly trained
If you have any questions or need assistance please let me know. One other thing I noticed. In the RTC it said the
refrigerant was removed from the mini-fridge. Refrigerant could be considered a Material that Requires Special
Handling and only Certified Appliance Recyclers can remove those items from appliances. Here is some information on
it: https://dtsc.ca.gov/certified-appliance-recycler-car-program/
5
