MECHANICAL INSULATION <br />Section 15250 <br />15-1207 <br />2.03 PIPING INSULATION <br />A. Domestic Hot Water Supply and Return: <br />1. Insulate exposed piping with fiberglass piping insulation with thicknesses as follows: <br />a. Pipes 2"0 and smaller- 2" thick insulation. <br />b. Pipes 2 1/2"0 and larger — 2 1/2" thick insulation. <br />C. Exposed pipes installed within 9'-0" of the finished floor to be provided with <br />ASJ-SSL jacket. <br />2. Insulate concealed piping with fiberglass piping insulation with thicknesses as <br />follows: <br />a. Pipes 1"0 and smaller with 1" of fiberglass piping insulation. <br />b. Pipes 1 1/4"0 and larger — insulate with 1 1/2:" of fiberglass piping insulation. <br />3. Do not insulate unions, valves, and exposed run -outs to fixture. <br />4. For protective pipe insulation at run -outs to fixtures, reference specification section <br />15440. <br />B. Domestic cold water and non -potable cold water piping: <br />1. Insulate piping on roof with fiberglass piping insulation with thicknesses as follows: <br />a. Pipes 2"0 and smaller- 2" thick insulation. <br />b. Pipes 2 1/2"0 and larger — 2 1/2" thick insulation. <br />C. Pipes to be provided with ASJ-SSL jacket. <br />C. Rain Water Leader and Overflow Piping: <br />1. Insulate piping within ceiling space with 1/2" fiberglass piping insulation. <br />D. Refrigerant Piping: <br />1. Insulate both liquid and suction lines with closed -cell pipe insulation. <br />2. Insulation to be a minimum of %" thick. <br />3. Seal all joints with Armstrong 520 adhesive. <br />4. Insulation exposed to weather to be finished with two coats of RBX 374 UV <br />protective coating. <br />E. Condensate Drain Piping: <br />1. Insulated condensate drain piping that is exposed within a room or within the building <br />plenum with %" closed -cell pipe insulation. <br />2. Seal with Armstrong 520 adhesive. <br />2.04 DUCTWORK INSULATION: <br />A. Wrap all concealed unlined supply and return ductwork, with duct wrap insulation as follows: <br />1. Where installed over unconditioned spaces, wrap ductwork with type 75, 3" thick duct <br />wrap. Minimum installed R -value to equal 8.3 (hr-ft2-0F)/BTU. <br />2. Where installed over or within conditioned concealed ceilings, wrap ductwork with <br />type 75, 2" thick duct wrap. Minimum installed R -value to equal 5.6 (hr-ft2-OF)/BTU. <br />3. Duct wrap to have FSK vapor barrier facing. <br />4. Duct wrap to be Johns Manville Microlite XG or equal. <br />3 <br />
