SOUND & COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS <br />Section 16700 <br />15-1207 <br />B. Wiring shall be in accordance with the Manufacturer's specifications. Wiring shall meet all local and <br />state codes. All wiring shall be ground and short tested. <br />C. All wiring shall be listed for the intended purpose. The cabling shall be Cat6 for all connections from <br />the IDF or MDF to the classroom and or zone origination point. All IP speakers shall be homerun <br />connected to each local IDF that serves that area, or MDF as noted on plans. There shall be no <br />additional cabling required from the IDF to the MDF as this is accomplished through the shared <br />fiber network devices and infrastructure. All interior wiring shall be in accordance with new <br />construction guidelines suggested by the Manufacturer, including the speaker and the call-in switch. <br />3.3 TESTING <br />A. Upon completion of the installation, all systems must be completely tested by the respective <br />manufacturer's representative, and all necessary modifications and/or adjustments must be made <br />to assure compliance with this specification. Testing shall be performed in the presence of the <br />Owner's representative at a time mutually agreed upon by the Contractor and Owner's <br />representative. <br />B. Testing shall include functionality of interface between the Intercom systems and Owners phone <br />system, and shall not be conducted until phone system is operational and able to be tested in this <br />manner. <br />3.4 CERTIFICATION <br />A. Upon completion of the testing, the manufacturer or representative shall issue to the Owner, a <br />letter of certification attesting to the fact that he has tested and adjusted the system, that all <br />components are properly installed according to the manufacturer's recommendations and are free <br />of defects, and that the system is in compliance with this specification. <br />3.5 INSTRUCTION <br />A. The work shall include supplying the services of a field service representative who shall be a full- <br />time employee. The field service representative shall have specialized experience in the operation <br />and maintenance of the systems and shall instruct the Owner's personnel in the techniques <br />involved in the operation of the systems. <br />B. Provide up to eight (8) hours training in the use and operation of the Intercom Notification System, <br />and all associated components and parts. <br />C. The sessions shall facilitate the training of personnel in operating classroom equipment, <br />administrative equipment, program distribution, and user programming functions. <br />3.6 DOCUMENTATION AND MANUALS <br />A. This Contractor shall provide documentation materials in sufficient detail to enable the Owner's <br />personnel to operate and maintain all systems. <br />3.7 WARRANTY, SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE <br />A. Provide a one year warranty of the installed systems, against defects in material and workmanship. <br />If any defects are found within the warranty period, the defective equipment shall be replaced at no <br />extra charge to the Owner for parts or labor. All warranty work shall be performed during normal <br />working hours, and performed within 48 hours (or by the next business day close, if encompassing <br />a weekend). <br />11 <br />
