VOICE & DATA COMMUNICATIONS <br />Section 16760 <br />15-1207 <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 PURPOSE: <br />The purpose of this document is to provide a list of network electronics, fiber cabling, copper <br />cabling, and cabinet specifications that applies to Manteca Unified School District. <br />2. This document will list make, model, and part number as it applies to our current network <br />infrastructure. The make, models, and part numbers are subject to change. Please contact IT <br />for the latest documentation. <br />1.2 SUMMARY: <br />A. Scope: This Section describes the scope of work and standards for the completion of the <br />telecommunications part of this Project. The cabling and equipment requirements consist of the <br />following, but not limited to: <br />1. Outside Plant backbone cabling required for interconnect buildings. <br />2. Ethernet based data communications over Category 6 & 6A Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) <br />cabling. <br />3. Active network electronics as per Districts standards as noted on drawings. <br />B. Work Included: The work covered by these Specifications includes the construction described <br />herein and represented in the Request for Proposal, including all labor necessary to perform <br />and complete such construction, all materials and equipment incorporated, and all services, <br />facilities, tools and equipment necessary or used to perform and complete such construction. <br />The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: <br />1. All cabling and equipment listed in part A above. <br />2. All termination blocks, cross connect blocks, information outlets, jacks, patch panels, patch <br />cords, cabinets, equipment racks, etc. required to support, terminate and/or cross connect <br />cabling in the Telecommunications Closets. <br />3. All physical cable management hardware, including J -hooks, D -rings and cable trays in <br />ceiling areas and vertical and horizontal cable management systems used on backboards <br />and equipment racks. <br />4. Conduit sleeve installation and fire -stopping where required. <br />5. Seismic bracing of all cabinets and racks provided by this work as required by code and by <br />local governing jurisdiction. <br />6. Testing, labeling and documentation of all cable and hardware installed under this contract. <br />7. Preparation and submission of testing reports, As -built drawings and cabling <br />documentation as described below. <br />8. Installation of all referenced telecommunication equipment and cabling shown on the <br />contract documents. <br />C. Related Work Not Included in this Section and Specified Elsewhere, Unless Otherwise Noted: <br />1. Cutting, patching and painting as required to match adjacent finishes. <br />2. Determining telecommunications cabling pathways including location of cable trays, <br />conduits, sleeves, pull boxes, outlet boxes, etc. where not specified. <br />D. Supplemental Items: The Contractor shall provide all items and work described in this Division <br />in accordance with the conditions of the Contract. This includes all incidentals, equipment, <br />
