GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING AND
GEOLOGICAL HAZARD STUDY
LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MODERNIZATION
750 E. YOSEMITE AVENUE
MANTECA, CALIFORNIA
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 GENERAL
This report includes the results of a Geotechnical Engineering and Geological Hazard Study (GENS) for
the proposed Lincoln Elementary School Modernization Project located at 750 E. Yosemite Avenue in
Manteca, California 95337 at approximate global positioning satellite (GPS) coordinates 37.796416°, -
121.206136°. The general location of the site is shown on the Vicinity Map, Figure 1; and Site Map with
Boring Locations, Figure 2, Appendix A. The USES topographic map, Manteca Quadrangle, indicates the
project site is located in the northeast quarter of Section 4 Township 2 South, and Range 7 East,
Mt. Diablo Base and Meridian. The approximate site elevation is 38 feet above mean sea level.
Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor) performed this study at the request of Ms. Susan Bell of
Manteca Unified School District. This report was prepared to meet the requirements of Title 24
Geotechnical Engineering Studies.
1.2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION'
We understand that design of the proposed Cafeteria; Administration Building is currently underway and
final details are not available as of this writing. On a preliminary basis, we understand the proposed
project will consist of an cafeteria and administration building with a foundation area of approximately
35,000 square feet and will be constructed on shallow foundations with isolated and perimeter spread
footings; additions and remodelling of the present cafeteria to form a media center with ilex labs, and a
future classroom building with a foundation area of approximately 10,000 square feet. Some existing
buildings will be repurposed or removed and asphalt areas will be repaired or replaced. The proposed
layout for the Lincoln Elementary School Modernization Project site is shown on Figure 2 — Site Map
with Boring Locations, Appendix A.
2.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
This GEHS was performed to 1) identify the geological hazards at the site; 2) characterize geotechnical
conditions at the site; 3) identify geotechnical or geologic conditions that might impact design or
construction of the site; 4) provide geotechnical recommendations to mitigate geotechnical constraints to
the site; and 5) provide geotechnical criteria for design of project foundations and slabs -on -grade.
Condor completed the following work for this GES:
Reviewed available maps and documents relevant to the site geology, seismic setting, and
geotechnical conditions.
2. Explored subsurface conditions by means of eleven (11) soil borings ranging in depth from
approximately 10 and 50 feet below the existing site grade. The boring locations are shown on
Figure 2, Appendix A. Cross sections of the borings are shown on Figure 3 and 3A, Appendix A.
Soil boring logs are presented in Appendix B.
W
 ss-
