This document establishes the expectations
of the owner for the project's future use. MUSD has included information about the building's use &
operation and has expressed their goals for review by the design team and inclusion in the design. Based
on this OPR the design team will create a supplemental document known as the Basis of Design "BOD"
which explains the proposed path of action to meet the requirements and goals of the MUSD as set forth
here.
1.0 Project Program
• General building information
o The Lincoln ES plan drafts are submitted with this document.
o The sizes of the cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, etc. are based on the construction of
a similar building at the Old River Elementary School. The Old River ES was
designed by Rainforth Grau Architects, who will also design this Lincoln ES Cafeteria.
o Size: 12,351 square feet
o Construction type: Type V -B, Non Separated, Sprinklered
o Occupancy type and number: A2, B, S2, & F2
• Climatic Conditions
o The owner requires both architectural design and engineering systems to be
appropriate for Climate Zone 12 where the school is located. The temperatures may
reach 75-85°F throughout the month of May and some days in August will likely be
over 95°F. The owner requires the building to be comfortable for occupants by
designing an HVAC which will keep temperatures within 76°F ±2°F.
• Intended uses and schedules
o To serve as a multipurpose room for any applicable activities that the school may
host, as well as a food service facility.
o Hours of operation: Normal operation will be 9:OOam to 3:20pm, Monday through
Friday while school is In session. . The normal school year is from August 07 through
May 25.
o The building should maintain ASHRAE 55 Standards by maintaining a maximum of
76°F. In the early winter hours the space should heat to 68°F and allow the people
loads to warm the building from there.
o Indoor Conditions
■ Indoor summer temperature (F) and relative humidity (%RH): 76°F +20F/-
O'F, 20%-60% RH
■ Indoor winter temperature (F) and relative humidity (%RH): 68°F +0°F/ -2°F,
20%-60% RH
