DEFINITIONS AND STANDARDS <br />Section 01090 <br />15-1207 <br />overlapping and conflicting requirements which result from the application of several different <br />industry standards to the same unit of work. Refer to individual unit of work sections for <br />indications of which specialized codes and standards the Contractor must keep at the project <br />site, available for reference. <br />B. Referenced Standards (referenced directly in contract documents or by governing <br />regulations) have precedence over non -referenced standards which are recognized in <br />industry for applicability to work. <br />C. Non -referenced Standards are hereby defined as having no particular applicability to the <br />work, except as a general requirement of whether the work complies with standards <br />recognized in the construction industry. <br />D. Publication Dates: Except as otherwise indicated, where compliance with an industry <br />standard is required, comply with standard in effect as of date of contract documents. <br />E. Copies of Standards: The contract documents require that each entity performing work be <br />experienced in that part of the work being performed. Each entity is also required to be <br />familiar with recognized industry standards applicable to that part of the work. Copies of <br />applicable standards are not bound with the contract documents. <br />1. Where copies of standards are needed for proper performance of the work, the <br />Contractor is required to obtain such copies directly from the publication source. <br />2. Although a certain number of copies of these standards may be required as a part of <br />the submittal, the Architect/Engineer reserves the right to require the Contractor to <br />submit additional copies of these standards as necessary for enforcement of the <br />requirements. <br />F. Abbreviations and Names: Where acronyms or abbreviations are used in the <br />specifications or other contract documents they are defined to mean the industry recognized <br />name of the trade association, standards generating organization, governing authority or <br />other entity applicable to the context of the test provision. Refer to the "Encyclopedia of <br />Associations", published by Gale Research Co., available in most libraries. <br />1.07 GOVERNING REGULATIONS/AUTHORITIES <br />A. General: The procedure followed by Architect/Engineer has been to contact governing <br />authorities where necessary to obtain information needed for the purpose of preparing <br />contract documents; recognizing that such information may or may not be of significance in <br />relation to Contractor's responsibilities for performing the work. Contact governing <br />authorities directly for necessary information and decisions having a bearing on performance <br />of the work. <br />1.08 SUBMITTALS <br />A.
