LANDSCAPING <br />Section 02900 <br />Project 15-1207 <br />b. Apply soil amendment to all planting areas at the rate of six cubic yards <br />(6 cy) per 1,000 sf and rototill into the top six to eight inches (6" — 8"). <br />4. Upon completion of finish grading, request an review and obtain approval of <br />Landscape Architect prior to commencement of planting or hydroseeding. <br />C. Finish Grading for all Planting areas <br />Refer to Earthwork Specification Section for Rough Grading. <br />2. Grade to elevations and contours shown on Drawings. Fill low spots with <br />landscape backfill material and grade to surface drain in manner indicated on <br />Drawings. <br />3. Finish -grade so that the entire area within the contract lines has a natural and <br />pleasing appearance as specified and as directed by Landscape Architect. <br />4. Adjust sprinkler heads flush to finish grade in preparation to receive <br />hydroseeding or one-half inch above finish grade in preparation to receive sod. <br />Reset sprinkler heads flush to grade after turf has germinated. <br />5. Flag the sprinkler heads and valve markers. <br />D. Planting Pits for Trees: <br />Excavate pits with vertical sides and with bottom of excavation slightly raised at <br />center to provide proper drainage. <br />2. Set container -grown stock in center of pit on earth pedestal. Separate roots <br />and/or prune roots as directed by Landscape Architect. In hot weather, pre -wet <br />pit. Loosen outside roots from sides and bottom of root ball. When set, place <br />additional backfill around base and sides of root ball. Work each layer to settle <br />backfill and eliminate voids and air pockets. Water after placing final layer of <br />backfill. <br />3. Loosen hard subsoil in bottom of excavation. Extend excavation as required to <br />insure proper drainage from plant pits. <br />4. Fill excavated planting pits with water to half the depth of pit. Pits should drain <br />within four hours (4 hrs). If planting pits do not drain, notify Proiect Inspector <br />immediately. Do not proceed with planting until Landscape Architect has <br />resolved a method to provide drainage. <br />E. Planting Pits for Shrubs/Groundcover: <br />Excavate pits and trenches with vertical sides and with bottom of excavation <br />slightly raised at center to provide proper drainage. <br />2.
