Build openings into vertical forms at regular intervals if necessary to facilitate concrete <br />placement, and at bottoms of forms to permit cleaning and inspection. <br />E. Build in securely braced temporary bulkheads, keyed as required, at planned locations of <br />construction joints. <br />F. Slope tie -wires downward to outside of wall. <br />G. Brace, anchor and support all cast -in items to prevent displacement or distortion. <br />H. During and immediately after concrete placing, tighten forms, posts and shores. Readjust to <br />maintain grades, levels and camber. <br />Slabs, Walks and Curbs: <br />1. Expansion Joints: Install at locations indicated, and so that maximum distance between <br />joints is 20' for exterior concrete unless otherwise shown. Expansion joint material shall <br />be full depth of concrete section. Recess for backer rod and sealant where indicated. <br />2. Curbs, Valley Gutter, and Curb & Gutter: Install expansion joints at 60' o.c. Expansion <br />joint material shall be full depth of concrete section. Recess for backer rod and sealant <br />where required. <br />3. Slab Control Joints: Install tongue and groove joint material for all interior slabs and <br />elsewhere as indicated on Drawings. Maximum area between joints is limited to 225 <br />square feet, maximum length between joints is limited to 16 feet, aspect ratio of length <br />to width is limited to 1.25 to 1. Contractor can set joint spacing within above limits to suit <br />placing schedule except that all joints specifically shown on structural drawings must be <br />set as so located. <br />a. Where joint spacing is not shown, Contractor will submit proposed locations to <br />suit slab -on -grade detail shown on Structural Drawings. <br />4. Isolation Joints: Install #30 roofing felt between walls and exterior slabs or walks so that <br />paved areas are isolated from all vertical features, except if expansion joints are <br />specifically indicated. <br />J. No metal or wood stakes are allowed in areas to be concreted. <br />3.03 FORM COATING <br />A. Before placement of reinforcing steel, coat faces of all forms to prevent absorption of moisture <br />from concrete and to facilitate removal of forms. Apply specified material in conformance with <br />manufacturer's written directions. <br />B. Before re -using form material, inspect, clean thoroughly and recoat. <br />C. Seal all cut edges. <br />3.04 CLEANING <br />A. Remove all wood chips, sawdust and other debris just before concrete is to be poured. Use <br />compressed air for inaccessible areas. Remove all water from excavations. <br />4 <br />
