GYPSUM WALLBOARD <br />Section 09250 <br />15-1207 <br />primer prior to the application of any wall finishes. <br />6. Level 5: All joints and interior angles shall have tape embedded in joint compound and <br />two separate coats of joint compound applied over all flat joints and one separate coat <br />of joint compound applied over interior angles. Fastener heads and accessories shall <br />be covered with three separate coats of joint compound. A thin skim coat of joint <br />compound trowel applied, or a material manufactured especially for this purpose and <br />applied in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, shall be applied to the <br />entire gypsum wallboard surface. The surface shall be smooth and free of tool marks <br />and ridges. Provide one coat of high solids drywall primer prior to the application of any <br />wall finishes. <br />B. Finish all joints, screw/nail heads or fastener depressions, applied metal trim and surface <br />blemishes, applying tape and compounds in strict accord with manufacturer's printed <br />directions, to achieve a Level 3 finish, unless otherwise allowed by this specification section. <br />C. All exposed wallboard shall be finished and sanded as necessary to provide flat, smooth <br />surface ready for decoration, per the Gypsum Association Finish publications noted in <br />paragraph 1.06, 3.05 A, and the Finish Levels noted below. <br />1. Level 0 Finish: Provide for temporary construction barriers. <br />2. Level 1 Finish: This finish level is not used on this project. <br />3. Level 2 Finish: Provide per the Gypsum Association recommendation where the <br />gypsum wallboard will be covered by fiberboard base/tackboard panels or wall -fastened <br />casework. <br />4. Level 3 Finish: Provide per the Gypsum Association recommendation for finishes with <br />medium to heavy textures and is the standard finish for all exposed surfaces. <br />5. Level 5 Finish: Provide per the Gypsum Association recommendations for gypsum <br />wallboard surfaces with non -textured finishes, and as scheduled on the drawings, <br />unless otherwise noted. <br />D. Spray Texture Coat: At all exposed gypsum wall board and plaster surfaces, not scheduled <br />for a smooth finish. <br />1. Unless otherwise specified or scheduled, apply the single -coat spray texture to all <br />surfaces in a degree of texture approved by the Architect to match approved sample. <br />No texture shall be applied until approved in writing by the Architect. <br />2. Finish Texture: Spray texture shall be as follows, unless otherwise noted: <br />a. Walls: Medium texture, Level 3 finish required) {Medium spray splatter texture, <br />Level 3 finish required. <br />b. Ceilings: Medium texture, Level 3 finish required) {Medium spray splatter texture, <br />Level 3 finish required. <br />3.06 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Accessories and Light Fixture Protection: Wherever accessories, panels and recessed light <br />fixtures penetrate fire -rated gypsum wallboard, provide protection box assembly in <br />accordance with UL specifications and as detailed to maintain integrity of rated wall/ceiling <br />system. <br />B. Access Panels: Install where required for access to serviceable equipment. Refer to Section <br />7 <br />
