ACOUSTICAL CEILINGS <br />Section 09510 <br />15-1207 <br />1.07 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING <br />A. Deliver undamaged products to job in manufacturer's sealed containers and/or original <br />bundles with tags and labels intact. <br />B. Store materials in protected, dry conditions off of ground and in areas so as to not interfere <br />with the progress of the work. <br />C. Transport, store and handle in strict accord with the manufacturer's written recommendations. <br />D. Make delivery to job when notified by Contractor verifying that the job is ready to receive the <br />work of this Section and that arrangements have been made to properly store, handle and <br />protect such materials and work. <br />1.08 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. Protect adjacent surfaces from damage during work of this Section. Installer shall be <br />responsible for checking drawings and job conditions, conforming to code requirements, and <br />for providing additional channels and hangers as required for support of electrical and <br />mechanical work for type and extent of work. Coordinate layout with other work which <br />penetrates or is supported by ceiling suspension system. <br />B. Do not install ceiling system when building is excessively cold and damp or hot and dry. <br />Plastering, drywall and concrete installation must be complete and fully cured. Windows <br />must be in place and glazed. All ceiling products and suspension systems must be installed <br />and maintained in accordance with manufacturer's written installation instructions for that <br />product in effect at the time of installation and best industry practice. Prior to installation, the <br />ceiling product must be kept clean and dry, in an environment that is between 32°F and <br />120°F and not subject to abnormal conditions. Abnormal conditions include exposure to <br />chemical fumes, vibrations, moisture from conditions such as building leaks or condensation, <br />excessive humidity, or excessive dirt or dust buildup. <br />C. Heating system must be installed and operating when necessary to maintain temperature. <br />Roof and exterior doors must be completed and made watertight. <br />1.09 FIELD MEASUREMENTS <br />A. Make and be responsible for all field dimensions necessary for proper fitting and completion <br />of work. Report any discrepancies to Architect before proceeding. <br />1.10 APPROVAL OF SUBSTITUTE PRODUCTS <br />A. Products may be proposed for substitution provided they meet all requirements of this <br />specification and that prior to erection of the suspended ceiling system, a copy of acceptable <br />substantiating test reports shall be submitted to the Architect. The tests shall show how the <br />axial tension and compression ultimate load capacity of the runners and their splices, <br />intersection connections and expansion devices complies with the requirements of ASTM <br />C635. The Contractor shall receive specific authorization from the Architect to proceed prior <br />to erection. Evaluation of test results shall be made on the mean values resulting from tests <br />of not fewer than three identical specimens, provided the deviation of any individual test result <br />from the mean value does not exceed plus or minus 10 percent. The tests shall be made by <br />an approved testing agency. <br />4 <br />
