PAINTING <br />Section 09900 <br />15-1207 <br />2.03 MIXES <br />A. Mixing and Thinning: On-site color mixing or tinting will not be allowed. Each kind of coating <br />for paint finishes shall be factory -mixed to match approved samples, colors, ready for <br />immediate application. Mix, thin proprietary products in strict accordance with manufacturer's <br />printed directions. Mix, thin all other products in accordance with standard practice. <br />2.04 COLORS <br />A. Colors shall be as selected by Architect from full range of manufacturer's colors, including <br />custom colors. Unless otherwise indicated on plans, different colors will be selected for <br />different materials such as walls, trim, doors, etc. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Prior to the work of this Section, carefully inspect and verify that the installed work of all other <br />trades is complete to the point where this work may properly commence. <br />B. Verify that painting may be performed in accordance with the approved design. <br />C. In the event of discrepancy, immediately notify Architect. Do not proceed in discrepant areas <br />until discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />3.02 GENERAL <br />A. Surface preparation and product application shall be in accordance with manufacturer's <br />printed instructions. <br />B. In addition to prime coats indicated (primer, sealer, filler, undercoat), use two (2) finish coats <br />minimum, and additional coats as required for complete coverage and good appearance of <br />scheduled finish coat. <br />3.03 PREPARATION <br />A. All surfaces to receive new finish shall be properly prepared prior to application of finish <br />coatings. <br />B. Do not apply paint, enamel, stains or varnishes to wet, damp, dusty, finger -marked, rough, <br />unfinished, or defective surfaces until such defects have been corrected. <br />C. Thoroughly sandpaper and dust off all woodwork; putty nail holes, cracks, or defects after first <br />coat to match color of paint. Putty where finish will be clear. First coat on wood surfaces shall <br />be sanded smooth. Other coats, except finish coat on wood, shall be lightly sanded and <br />dusted before and between each coat. Smoothing, rubbing and sand -papering shall be <br />sufficient to insure good results. Sand down all raised grain or rough surfaces and re -coat. <br />Knots, pitch pockets and sappy portion of wood, all nail holes, cuts, cracks and other defects <br />in wood shall have any necessary extra treatment to provide proper paint base. <br />10 <br />
