GENERAL MECHANICAL <br />MATERIALS AND METHODS <br />Section 15050 <br />15-1207 <br />4. Style "Fire Rated" where required. <br />2.03 ROOF FLASHING: <br />A. Flashings in metal deck or membrane type roofing: <br />1. Flashing for penetrations of the roof for mechanical items such as flues, ducts, and <br />pipes will be furnished and installed under other sections of these specifications. <br />The work of this section shall include layout, sizing, and coordination of penetrations <br />required for the mechanical work. <br />2. Furnish and install counterflashings above each flashing required in the mechanical <br />work. Flues and ducts shall have 24 -gauge galvanized sheet metal storm collar <br />securely clamped to the flue or duct above the flashing. <br />3. Sewer vents and other piping extending through roof structure shall have flashing <br />provided and installed as part of the roofing work. This contractor shall coordinate <br />his Work accordingly. <br />2.04 DIELECTRIC UNIONS: <br />A. Furnish and install dielectric unions at all locations described herein, whether shown on <br />Drawings or not, and except as noted herein. Construct couplings and flanges so that the <br />two pipes being connected are completely insulated from each other with no metal -to -metal <br />contact. Heavily line the couplings with a hard, insulating, phenolic plastic threaded in <br />standard pipe sizes. Make up the flanges with insulating components consisting of a hard, <br />phenolic gasket, bolt sleeves, and bolt washers. Supplement the insulating gasket with <br />neoprene faces to form a seal. <br />B. Acceptable Manufacturers: <br />1. Watts Regulator Co. <br />2. Eclipse, Inc. <br />3. Perfection Corp. <br />2.05 THERMOMETERS: <br />A. General: <br />1. Thermometers shall be furnished at all locations shown on the Drawings and in <br />accordance with these specifications, whether shown on the Drawings or not <br />2. All thermometers, unless shown otherwise, shall be of the bimetal helix or liquid -filled <br />type. <br />3. All thermometers shall be round, stainless steel case construction with glass front. <br />4. Accuracy to be within plus or minus one of the smallest scale divisions throughout <br />the entire range. <br />5. The thermometer scales shall have a minimum of 2 degrees between graduations <br />and a maximum of 20 degrees between figures. <br />6. The thermometers shall be located so as to be easily read and shall be furnished <br />with adjustable angle pattern so as to be rotated to any position. <br />7. Liquid thermometers for tanks and similar equipment shall have a minimum 5 -inch <br />diameter face. <br />8. Thermometers for piping shall have a minimum face diameter of 3 inches. <br />9. Thermometers installed on insulated tanks or piping shall be provided with an <br />extension neck well to compensate for the thickness of the insulation. <br />3 <br />
