Jose Granados provided <br />the following information: <br />Incident occurred at 02:52 hours Pacific Standard Time; cleanup completed by <br />Patriot Environmental at 13:30 hours Pacific Standard Time. <br />No water ways or drains impacted; no evacuations; no injuries. <br />0.5 Gallons of corrosive acid spilled onto container; no ground impact. <br />- Justin Piper (BNSF) is the contact for this incident and will have additional <br />information and can be reached at phone number: 360-553-8672. <br />Called Justin Piper, but he gave me Russ Cole's contact information since he <br />managed this incident. Called Russ Cole (BNSF) 209-460-6184. Left message. <br />Called Lead Sr. Garrett Backus (EHD) and discussed spill incident. <br />Called Jose Granados to let him know that I was not getting a call back from Russ <br />Cole. Jose provided alternate phone number for Russ. <br />Called Russ Cole 209-639-1156. Russ reported the following: <br />- Patriot Environmental - Contact is Derek Smith. Patriot did not leave any waste <br />behind and does not have cleanup details or waste disposition information. <br />- Corrosive pesticide is liquid, but had dried when rail car had arrived to railyard. <br />Cause of spill was via plastic caps on 55-gallon drums of pesticide became <br />loose. <br />Received the incident report from Russ Cole (Russell.Colejr@BNSF.com). <br />Reviewed report and photos for the following information: <br />RP is Jim Clark with Fed Ex. Contact info is: Jim.Clark@fedex.com <br />CONTAINER # is: FXFZ 974615. <br />Photo of product label shows pesticide is manufactured by Earth Science <br />Laboratories, Inc., product name is Agritec Algaecide/Bactericide, liquid, active <br />ingredient Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate 19.8%. Located online SDS for this <br />product shows it has 1/0 pH. <br />Report states several 55-gallon drums had product leak from caps that were <br />loose. Photo only shows one of four 55-gallon drums leaked from the cap. <br />Called Derek Smith (Patriot Environmental) 916-347-8724 for cleanup details and <br />waste information. Derek reported: <br />- One 55-gallon drum of hazardous waste solids (absorbent and PPE) was <br />generated from cleanup and will be disposed of at Crosby and Overton. <br />Corrosive pesticide was neutralized to a 7 pH by applying sodium bicarbonate <br />then cleaned up using absorbent. <br />Updated Garrett Backus. <br />Called Derek Smith to request photos of disposal record. <br />Received manifest #: 019703741 JJK from Derek Smith. <br />Generated complaint. <br />03/01/2021 Discussed with Elena Manzo.
