According to the SSNL, the estimated nitrate loading from existing and proposed Onsite Wastewater
Treatment System (OWTS) usage is 20.17 mg/L as nitrate -nitrogen and the maximum contaminant
level of 10 mg/L-N. EHD will require an engineered OWTS to mitigate the excessive nitrogen.
2. A Registered Civil Engineer shall submit complete engineering design plans to EHD for approval
(SJC OWTS Standard 7.1 through 7.1.5). The engineered OWTS plans shall demonstrate mitigation
of the estimated long-term nitrate loading from the proposed OWTS and conform to San Joaquin
County OWTS Standards.
A fee will be based on the current fee schedule at time of payment.
3. Percolation test conducted on August 13, 2021 yield a percolation rate of 5.68 min/inch. At this rate,
minimum 8 feet of soil separation is required between bottom of dispersal field and the groundwater.
The SSNL reports a historic groundwater level of 70 feet below surface grade. (San Joaquin County
OWTS Standard Table 1.10.2).
4. The OWTS and its 100% replacement areas shall meet all required minimum setbacks stated in San
Joaquin County (OWTS) Standard and Well Standard.
If you have any questions please contact Michael Suszycki, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, REHS, at msuszycki@sjgov.org or (209) 589-7001.
Aten ih, REHS
Program Coordinator
CC: Evan J.
