LIVE OAK GEO ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
4000_ 407 W. Oak St., Lodi, CA 95240 ❖ (209) 369-0375 •:• logelodi.com
October 14, 2021
Project Number: 2145
Francisco Garcia Ruiz, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
Regarding: Addendum to Nitrate Loading Study (SR0084225)
Decker/Nickell Property
4569 E. Harvest Rd., Acampo, CA
Mr. Garcia Ruiz:
We spoke by telephone yesterday regarding the results of the nitrate loading calculation for the
above project. The calculation predicts that in a worst-case situation, the maximum buildup of
nitrates in the aquifer from the use of a septic system on the Site could be up to 12.9 mg/L-N.
The result of the nitrate loading estimate slightly exceeds the maximum drinking water
standard.
The septic contractor is proposing a shallow filter -bed septic system for the Site due to limited
space and setback requirements. Greater nitrate reduction is anticipated from this type of
system versus a standard (for the area) system with leach lines and seepage pits, due to the
increase in vadose zone of approximately 21.5 feet.
Although Live Oak cannot make engineering recommendations, we are aware that in the past
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department has allowed the use of an oversized
septic tank to mitigate nitrate impacts. If additional mitigation beyond the use of a shallow
system is desired for the Site, this option may be worth exploring.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
CLOA. tk_
David J.
