Proposed Septic System Ms. Sweeny plans to construct a new septic system for the new residence. On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site address. Two septic permits were identified: April 1976 permit for new residential septic system. The permit indicates a 1,200-gallon septic tank, two 75-foot leach lines, and two 4-foot by 8-foot by 14- foot deep sumps. May 1987 permit for repair to existing septic system at residence. A 40-foot leach line and a 4-foot by 12-foot by 12-foot deep sump were added to the system. These permits have been included in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 44 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The Site is located within a mixed agricultural and rural residential area. Nearby agricultural properties include orchards and irrigated pasture. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach lines with sumps. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report. Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of the Site Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations.
