Qm is a unit of arkosic alluvium,
sand with minor gravel and silt forming alluvial terraces, alluvial fans and abandoned
channel ridges (Plate 3,Appendix A).
The surface and near surface soils located at the site are reported by the San Joaquin County
Soil Survey5 to be composed of the Jacktone clay, and Hollenbeck silty clay, 0-2 percent
slopes (Plate 4, Appendix A). The table below presents some selected properties of these
soils:
Table 1.
San Joaquin County Soil Survey
Elected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils
Soil Name Salinit
Depth Soil Perme- Septic tank
and Map Unified Soil Classification y Reaction ability absorption
Symbol (in) /cmo pH (in/hr) fields
0-22: Clay; CL, CH <2 6.6 -8.4 0.06 - 0.2
Severe:
22-34: Clay loam, silty clay; CL, CH <2 7.9 -9.0 0.06 - 0.2
Jacktone clay, cemented
180 34-37: Indurated --- --- an, eres
37-46: Loam,Clay loam; CL, ML <2 7.9 -9.0 0.2 - 0.6 p p
slowly.
46-60: Cemented ---
0-10: Silty clay: CH, CL <2 6.6 -8.4 0.06 - 0.2
Hollenbeck 10-37: Clay, Silty clay; CH,CL Severe:
silty clay 37-42: Silty clay loam, silty clay; CL <2 6.6 -8.4 0.06 - 0.2 peres
<2 6.6 -8.4 0.2-0.6
173 42-60: Cementedslowly.
Note:The table descriptions do not necessarily reflect site-specific soil properties.
*See description of the map unit for composition and behavior characteristics of the map unit
4 Wagner,D.L.,Bortugno,E.J.,and McJunkin,R.D,1991.Geologic Map of the San Francisco Quadrangle,California,California Division of
Mines and Geology Map 5A.1:250,000
5 United States Department of Agriculture.Soil Survey of San Joaquin County,California.October 1992.
Petralogix Engineering,Inc.
26675 BruelIa Road,Galt,Ca 95632
(209)-40o-5729
www.petralogix.com
