EWWONMEIVTAL
TECHIVOLOCIES
Task IV: Implementation of Attenuation and Leaching Studies
Deliverable: Experimental studies and chemical results of leaching and attenuation studies
Following discussions with regulatory agencies, the experiments designed in Task H will be
revised as necessary and implemented. Moju E.T. will retain Clayton Environmental
Laboratories as subcontractors to conduct the site-specific leaching studies for CAM metals,
solvent organics, PNAs, phenols, petroleum hydrocarbons, and any chemical constituent selected
in Task Il, as well as the measurement of critical parameters such as organic matter, clay
content, grain-size distribution and oxide composition of site soil, and permeability of waste.
Moju E.T. will design and set up necessary experiments studies in Clayton's laboratory.
Chemical analysis of effluents will also be conducted by the subcontrator laboratory.
Task V: Preparation of Designated Levels Report
Deliverable: Site-specific designated levels report and regulatory approval of report.
Moju E.T. will prepare a report summarizing all the designated levels for each chemical
identified in Tasks I through IV. The report will contain the designated levels for chemicals
estimated using: 1) the generic values of attenuation and leachability factors; 2) the critical
parameters used to determine site-specific attenuation and leachability factors; 3) the empirical
models for predicting site-specific attenuation or leachability factors; and 4) experimental
verification of the factors for those chemicals with site-specific designated levels. Tables
summarizing designated levels for the landfill will be included in the report.
SCHEDULE
The overall duration of the Tasks I through V is projected at 12 to 16 weeks. Task I will
commence within a week following Forward's approval of this Work Plan and will be conducted
over a period of two weeks. Task II will be conducted following the completion of Task I, over
a period of three to four weeks. Task III should occur during the sixth or seventh week of the
project. Two to four weeks will be used to set up attenuation and leaching studies and another
three to four weeks will be required to obtain the analytical results described in Task IV. Task
V will commence concurrently with Task IV and be completed about two weeks following the
completion of Task IV.
August 15, 1990 5 Revision 2.0
7255 Saroni Drive-Oakland,California,USA 94611
TEL(415)339-1543-FAX(415)339-6775
