Windrows are potentially combustible when exceeding
170 F.
1. The operator shall provide fire prevention, protection, and control measures.
2. Ensure that the temperatures do not meet or exceed 170 F by continuing to take temperature
measurements, and if neccessary, increasing the number of turnings.
Inspection Report Comments:
A routine monthly inspection was conducted on this date and the following was noted:
1. Previous area of concern regarding pieces of treated and painted wood being observed in the"sorted"green
waste pile has been corrected.
2. In the previous inspection report, it was recommended that the records show exactly when each windrow meets
the requirements for completion of pathogen reduction by stating "met pathogen reduction." Facility has not yet
done this. It is also recommended that the the records show when the pile has been moved to be screened.
3. Windrows are numbered by signs. During the inspection, signs#12-#15 were on the ground. The operator had
an employee put the signs back up. It is recommended that on a daily basis the signs are checked to see that
they are still standing. This ensures that the windrow numbers are not mixed up when documenting their
temperatures.
