Pf <br /> RECOMMENDED ADDITIONAL PERMIT PROVISIONS FOR THE PREVENTION OF UNCONTROLLED FIRE <br /> 1. The 30-acre operational area of the dump (enclosed by existing 6-strand barbed wire <br /> fence) outside the active dump site shall be maintained free and clear of all <br /> flammable vegetation and materials between the period of this permit. <br /> 2. Install a 4-inch water main from main water source to within 150 feet of active <br /> dumping area. <br /> Install in the water main, stand pipes of 2k-inch diameter, at intervals not to <br /> exceed 400 feet. These stand pipes shall extend a minimum of 24 inches above the <br /> ground and will have a shut-off valve with male National Standard threads with <br /> each equipped with a cap. <br /> 3. Have 500 feet of lk-inch cotton jacket fire hose in serviceable condition, with <br /> two 9/16-inch tips. <br /> 4. Maintain a fence along the south side of the land fill with a mesh of no greater <br /> than 4-inch by 4-inch of "hog wire or cyclone type" to a minimum of 10 feet verti- <br /> cal distance above the high point of the operating dump area. <br /> 5. Maintain around the south and east sides of the dump operating area, a minimum of <br /> 400-foot clearance of all flammable vegetation and other flammable material. <br /> 6. Maintain around the north and west sides of the dump operating area, a minimum of <br /> 150-foot clearance of all flammable vegetation and other flammable material. <br /> 7. For the purpose of isolating possible fires: <br /> a. The active area will be broken up into cells no greater than 150-feet in length <br /> by 50-80 feet in breadth and be separated by dikes of clean soil for a minimum <br /> of 8 feet in width. At the end of each working day, that portion of any cell <br /> containing accumulated rubbish shall be covered with clear soil a minimum of <br /> 6 inches and compacted. <br /> 8. Equipment, consisting of the following: <br /> a. Water tanker, minimum of 2,000 gallons, with a pump capable of producing <br /> 100 pounds pressure at the 1k-inch outlet and 100 feet of l -inch cotton <br /> jacket firehose in serviceable condition with l -inch shut-off nozzle. <br /> b. At least three (3) pieces of dirt-moving equipment, in operable condition, <br /> adequate to fulfill the terms of this permit. <br /> 9. All fires will be immediately reported upon discovery, to the Linden-Peters <br /> Fire District, Phone 887-3411, and the California Department of Forestry, Phone <br /> 754-3561. <br /> 10. Along the entrance road, maintain to the existing fence lines, clearance of all <br /> flammable vegetation and other flammable material. <br />
