In accordance with a previous request from the Environmental Health Division,
PVC pipes with caps are monitored for methane at four locations. The pipes are open at the
bottom and they are approximately 2.5 feet deep.
The County used a Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitor to perform the monitoring. This
instrument was calibrated by the manufacturer prior to monitoring. Results from the first quarter
1999 monitoring event are shown on the attached map with readings for all probes and structures
shown adjacent to their locations.
% If you have any questions, please call me at 468-3066.
WJ:MK:rh
R:\RENEE\MEMOS\WES\1-99gsme.wpd
Attachment
c: Scott Walker, California Integrated Waste
Management Board
LA 31209
