3.2.6 Condensate Water Handling
Condensate water collected in the GCCS will be handled as leachate in accordance with
the Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) issued by the Regional Water Quality
Control Board. Condensate will either be delivered to the leachate collection and
recovery system of a lined Module, or pumped directly to the leachate holding tank near
the LFG flare station. The combined fluid in the leachate tank will be delivered to the
refuse of a lined Module, such as Module 1. Condensate will not be returned to Module
I", which is unlined.
3.2.7 Flare Station
The flare station will be sized to combust up to 2000 cfm at installation in 2006. The
flare station will be expanded as needed to accommodate increasing production of LFG
(Figure 6).
LFG will be disposed of in an open candlestick flare in accordance with 40 CFR Section
60.752 (la igures "7 and 8). The Bate will include a spark -ignited propane pilot to ignite the
flare and a thermocouple to monitor the flame. The pilot will cycle off after main flame
ignition.
Two centrifugal blowers will be installed, each sized to collect LFG from the LFG wells.
An automatic shutoff valve will shut off the LFG flow in the event of a flame failure.
Foothill Sanitary Landfill 5 Public Works/Solid Waste
LFG CS Design Plan County of San Joaquin - March 30, 2005
