RM 3 of 3
If this unit is used for homesite development, the main limitations are
l slow permeability, high shrink -swell, and low strength. If the soil is
used for septic tank absorption fields, the limitation of slow
permeability can be ov.ercomr by increasing the size of the absorption
field. If the density of housing is moderate to high, community sewage
systems are needed to prevent contamination of water supplies as a
result of seepage from on-site sewage disposal systems. If buildings
are constructed on this soil, properly designing foundations and
footings and diverting runoff away from buildings help to prevent
structural damage because of shrinking and swelling. buildings and
roads should be designed to offset the limited ability of the soil in
this unit to support a load.
The map unit is in capability units IIs -3 (17), irrigated, and IVs -3
(17), non rr gated.
10/9/Bc
PRE LIDi1NARY
SUBJECT 10 I:EV1sIO.I
13.3-43
