Spano, Associate Sanitary Engineer, on
May 14, 1987. The following deficiencies were found during
the inspection and a subsequent review of the Department' s
files:
1. Radioactivity sampling is required every four years.
kd1f4 The most recent radiological data for the Depot wells
represents samples taken in 1982 . As a result,
radioactivity monitoring is now overdue.
2 . The Depot's Emergency Notification Plan needs updating
to reflect recent changes in personnel.
3 . The concentration of iron in Well No. 3 and Well No. 4
exceeds the state standard.
4 . The pedestals on both Well No. 3 and Well No. 4 are
only about 3 inches high and should be raised to at
least 12 inches if the pumps are removed and replaced
before the wells are destroyed.
Please respond in writing by June 15, 1987 , with a plan to
correct these deficiencies and a time schedule relevant to
the implementation of the corrective measures.
R, W.
