Is it possible to put this in writing as part of
your inspection reports for our record? I won't need that by Tuesday.
Kim
>>> "Robert McClellon [EH]" <RMcClellon@sjcehd.com> 01/16/04 02:51PM
Hi, Kim Foothill Landfill gets an inspection by the Environmental
Health Department on a monthly basis. On July 18, 2003 Ted Tasiopoulis
conducted a routine inspection at Foothill. During the inspection gas
levels were monitored. Soil Gas Probe (SG1) was cited for exceeding
state minimum standards (5% at the boundary). SG1 was measured to have a
concentration of 7%. Due to the high concentrations found in SG1, a new
well was proposed closer to the actual boundary of the landfill (See
T27CCR Section 20925 (2)). SGll was installed approximately 300 feet
West of SG1.
On October 22, 2003, Robert McClellon conducted a routine inspection at
Foothill Landfill. During the inspection SGll was monitored. The level
of methane measured in SG11 was 2.2%. On December 31, 2003, Robert
McClellon conducted a routine inspection at Foothill Landfill. During
the inspection SGll was monitored. The level of methane measured in SG11
was 1.3%. The inspection report indicates 1.3ppm by mistake (it should
have been recorded as %). During that inspection SG1 was also monitored.
SG 1 measured 375 ppm methane. The valve on the probe was open. It had
been left open by someone. There was no indication how long the probe
valve had been left open. Robert McClellon closed the valve. Robert
McClellon informed Mike Carrol and Jaime Perez that the valve had been
left open and that it would need to be kept closed except for monitoring
purposes.
Thanks Robert
Section 20925. CIWMB - Perimeter Monitoring Network. (T14: Section
17783.5)
(a) Location
(1) Perimeter subsurface monitoring wells shall be installed around the
waste deposit perimeter but not within refuse. The entire perimeter of
the disposal site may not warrant the installation of monitoring wells.
In this case, the operator shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
1
Thanks
