San Joaquin County owns two Class 3 Landfills.
These facilities have always used clean dirt for daily cover, exclusively. The cover dirt is
generated on-site as a result of our module excavation projects. San Joaquin County
presently does not use any other form of Alternative Daily Cover(ADC), although we are
evaluating the potential use of a tarping system.
There is one other privately owned landfill operated in San Joaquin County by Forward,
Inc. It is our understanding that they do not utilize shredded automobile waste as
alternative daily cover.
Should you have any further questions regarding operations at the Forward, Inc. landfill, I
suggest you contact San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, at 468-3420,
which serves as the Local Enforcement Agency for the County's landfills.
Sincerely,
Vj( Z
ANNETTE BORGES s`
Integrated Waste Manager
AB:mr
P:Wison\Solid Waste Administration\Annette Borges\Lymp-April 5.doc
c: Steve Winkler, Deputy Director/Operations
Environmental Health Department
