3.3 SAFETY PROCEDURES <br /> A. REFUSE HANDLING <br /> • Refuse will mostly be handled with heavy equipment. Personnel will be <br /> advised to avoid contact with refuse and use protective gloves to handle <br /> any refuse. <br /> • Refuse and soil with refuse from the drilling will be disposed at the <br /> active working area of the landfill. <br /> • During the first safety meeting, Contractor will inform employees not to <br /> touch refuse. All contractor employees will be asked to report discovery <br /> of strange materials immediately to the job Forman. <br /> • If any strange materials are encountered, the drilling will be stopped and <br /> San Joaquin County Emergency Services (OES) will be notified to <br /> inspect the encountered material. The area will be flagged. Work will <br /> not resume in the area until the area is declared safe by OES. <br /> B. GENERAL SAFETY <br /> • OSHA safety rules and regulations will be followed fully and completely <br /> during this project. Hard hats, safety glasses and safety vests will be <br /> required for personnel working near the construction area and operating <br /> heavy equipment. <br /> • Contractor will conduct a safety meeting with County staff and <br /> contractor's employees before the start of the project. <br /> • Workers will not perform work that involves sources of combustion (such <br /> as welding equipment) or other work that generates temperatures that <br /> could ignite methane unless the work area has been verified to meet <br /> safety requirements. <br /> • Smoking within the property of FHSL will be prohibited. <br /> • The nearest medical facility in case of a medical emergency during the <br /> project is: <br /> Lodi Memorial Hospital <br /> P.O.
