SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND BUILDING INSPECTION
1510 E. HAZELTON AVE., STOCKTON, CA 95205
p • PLANNING PHONE: 209/944-3722
BUILDING PHONE: 209/944-3701
April 12, 1984
MEMORANDUM
TO: Board of Zoning Adjustment
Item No. 8
GHh1 UAVI3SUX
Director
JERRY HERZICK
Deputy Director
LOU THANAS
Deputy Director
FROM: Planning Division
SUBJECT: REVIEW OF USE PERMIT NO. U-84-64 OF ELKHORN GOLF AND
COUNTRY CLUB
----------------------------------------------------------------
BACKGROUND: On January 12, 1984, the Board of Zoning Adjustment
imposed conditional Use Permit No. U-84-64 on the Elkhorn Golf
Course located on the southeast corner of Elkhorn Drive and Shull
Place, north of Stockton. The Board imposed the following
supplemental conditions of approval:
5. Any construction, reconstruction, moving, remodeling or
other alterations authorized by this Use Permit shall not
be commenced or completed until all permits required by
other departments or agencies have been secured.
6. The driving range shall be limited to the use of irons
only.
7. Driving shall be from west to east direction only.
8. This permit is to be reviewed by the Board of Zoning
Adjustment in three months (April 12, 1984).
Ron Stein, Attorney, representing Mr. and Mrs. McAthie, indicates
that presently all is going well and requests that this matter be
continued for two (2) months. This will be helpful in deter-
mining if the present situation will continue.
It should be noted that field investigation by staff on February
8, 1984 and March 28, 1984 noted no balls being hit into the
neighboring properties and the persons using the driving range
were using irons at the time.
The earlier visit noted a small sign and a copy of the Use Permit
posted noting the restrictions. The submitted Exhibit A indi-
cates a gate and fence with signing would be installed but as of
March 28, 1984, this was not evident. The staff will advise the
golf course operator to comply as soon as possible.
