SANJOAQUIN
COUNTY
°gbFoNP Greatness grows here.
September 17, 2021
Tracy LaBarber
20157 Little John Road
Stockton, CA 95215
RE: Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study
20157 Little John Road
APN: 18508054, SR0084197
Environmental Health Department
Jasjit Kang, REHS, Director
Muniappa Naidu, REHS, Assistant Director
PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Robert McClellon, REHS
Jeff Carruesco, REHS, RDI
Willy Ng, REHS
Melissa Nissim, REHS
Steven Shih, REHS
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading Study (SSNL) dated September 7, 2021 for the above noted location and has the following comments
for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term nitrate loading impact to groundwater from an existing
three-bedroom home and the proposed three-bedroom home.
Based on the information provided the EHD can make the following findings:
a. The SSNL reports a nitrate -loading estimate for the existing and proposed OWTS of 10.28 mg/L of
NO3-N; the maximum contamination level for NO3-N in groundwater is 10.0 mg/L set by the Central
Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. An oversized 1,600 gallon septic tank is required for the
proposed OWTS to increase removal of Total -Nitrogen in the liquid waste (Onsite Nitrogen removal,
Oakley, page 12).
b. Percolation test conducted on August 24, 2021 yielded a percolation rate of 50 min/inch. At this rate
a 5' soil separation is required between bottom of dispersal field and the groundwater. (San Joaquin
County OWTS Standard Table 1.10.2).
If you have any questions please contact Aaron Gooderham, Registered Environmental Health Specialist,
REHS, at agooderham@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3062.
?0"
Steven Shih, REHS
Program Coordinator
CC: AdvancedGeo
1868 E.
