The Leach Line Requirement calculation for the disposal area:
4,440 gpd ADF + 1,200 BTC x 0.200 Leach Line Soil Factor (LLS F) =1,128 Linear Feet Leach
Line (LFLL) x 3 Filter Bed Soil Factor (FBSF) =
3,384 sf of filter bed area needed to manage the ADF.
The Application Rate calculation for the disposal area:
ADF of 4,440 gpd - 0.758 gals/sf/day (Determined from averaging the perc rates on Page 4) _
5,858 sf of filter bed area needed to manage the ADF.
The disposal area for this project is best determined by taking the average between the Leachline
Requirement calculation and the Application Rate calculation:
3,384 sf + 5,858 sf = 9,242 - 2 = 4,621 sf.
Therefore, the filter bed area is to be constructed square: 68 ft x 68 ft = 4,624 sf.
The high head effluent pumps of the duplex pump system will alternate between each half of the
filter bed area (Two zones, each zone = 6 laterals/60 ft long). Every pump cycle supplying 5x the
total pipe volume (transport line, manifold, laterals) _
61.8 gals x 5 = 309 gals/pump discharge cycle.
Spread equally over one-half of a mature disposal area of 4,624 sf - 2 zones =
309 gals - 2,312 sf = 0.134 gals/sf for every discharge cycle.
The filter bed construction is to be constructed with a one foot soil cover (in lieu of a 0.5 ft cover)
over the filter fabric since it is anticipated that farm machinery and farm implements will be used
to control weed growth over the filter bed area, thus necessitating a one ft soil cover for support.
Fifteen inches of drain rock are to be installed under the filter fabric per the attached plans.
There is ample area for the 100% reserve replacement area, which can be directly east or south of
the proposed primary filter bed location, or east of the referenced septic tanks, as illustrated on the
Perc Test Location aerial photo.
V. CONCLUSIONS
NLS§ 4.1. The nitrate loading calculations show that all sources of onsite domestic wastewater
effluent from the winery facility (exclusively Parcel 1) will theoretically possess a nitrate -nitrogen
concentration of 2.74 mgt NO3-N, well below the Federal nitrate Maximum Contaminant Level
(MCL) of 10 ppm NO3-N. This can be primarily attributable to the area of Parcel 1 at 149.5 acres.
A portion of winery process wastewater, laboratory originated wastewater, and facility stormwater
all flows into the main stormwater infiltration pond. This wastewater disposal is managed by the
engineering firm of Kennedy/Jenks under Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) promulgated by
the Regional Water Quality Control Board. Winery process water is also discharged to
surrounding vineyards owned by The Wine Group.
Page A 0 -
Chesney Consulting
