The complainant reported that the tenant is fixing cars in the
alley, dumping the oil on the ground, and then spraying it down with a hose. The
complainant reports that the residue is going onto neighboring properties. I
reviewed the complaint with inspectors Kristina Saetern and Gabby Garcia. I
called lead senior Elena Manzo and updated her on the complaint.
Inspectors Vicky yang-Lee, Kristina Saetern, and Gabby Garcia responded to the
complaint. We drove down Aurora Street and could not locate the address
reported in the complaint, 1607 S Aurora St. We drove down the alley behind the
homes and observed two men fixing a vehicle behind a different property (not the
property mentioned in the complaint). We approached the men but they did not
speak English. Inspector Gabby Garcia translated as I asked them questions.
One of the men stated that they only work on their personal vehicles. He stated
that if any used oil is generated, they take it to pick-n-pull or autozone. We
inspected the area and did not observe any staining or sheen. We provided him
with a spanish household hazardous waste brochure. We inspected the entire
alley and did not observe any sheen or staining in the area. We were able to find
the property mentioned in the complaint but did not observe any staining or
indication of vehicle repairs behind the property.
Entered daily narrative and completed photo log.
01/10/2022 Generated a hazardous waste residential letter and gave it to clerical to be mailed
to the property owner and tenant. Printed the Log2 and 5105. Compiled all
complaint documents and abated complaint. Submitted documents to lead senior
for final review.
VAN G-LEE
51 05. rpt
