Complaint Investigation Summary
Report #: 5105
COMPLAINT ID: COOGC037H Site Location: 18129 E SOLA RD
Activity Summary
Activity Date
07/15/2021
Recorded by
Reviewed complaint documentation. No final laboratory report was received from MANZO
Simplot. Called John Pallen 208-867-2627, asked for the final lab report for soil
sampling conducted at the site. John indicated that they collected one sample at
the incident location, one where the liquid entered the ditch, samples 2,3, and 4
down gradient from the spill (inside the ditch), and sample 6 up gradient from the
spill. EHD was not present for sampling, let John know that it's our policy to
always witness the sampling. John indicated that he is a licensed professional with
professional integrity and he guarantees samples validity. Asked to place sample
locations on pictures taken during sampling, if possible, and send it to the EHD.
Let him know that we will review the results and let him know if additional sampling
will be necessary. John indicated that because a strong base and strong acid
commingled during the incident the residual pH was close to neutral (outside of
the hazardous waste limits). Provided my contact information for the final lab
report to be sent to the EHD along with any pictures taken during sampling.
07/21/2021 Reviewed and summarized sample results received from the facility. FGL labs
performed analytical.
Sample 5TK2139039-001, dated 6-28-21, Ditch East
pH = 5.1
phosphorus (mg/kg) = 3090
sodium (mg/kg) = 3640
Sample STK2139039-002, dated 6-28-21, Ditch Central
pH = 7.5
phosphorus (mg/kg) = 616
sodium (ring/kg) = 896
BAKER
Sample STK2139039-003, dated 6-28-21, Ditch West
pH = 6.3
phosphorus (mg/kg) = 572
sodium (mg/kg) = 884
Sample STK2139039-004, dated 6-28-21, far west
pH = 7.2
phosphorus (mg/kg) = 344
sodium (mg/kg) = 193
Sample STK2139039-005, dated 6-28-21, tank area
pH = 7.4
phosphorus (mg/kg) = 565
sodium (mg/kg) = 803
Sample STK2139039-006, dated 6-28-21, Power Pole
pH = 7.1
phosphorus (mg/kg) = 441
sodium (mg/kg) = 299
All of these results for the soil and ditch are not at the hazardous waste regulatory
level for corrosivity.
John Pallen (EHS Manager) replied via email that as a result of the above
sampling Simplot feels no further action is required.
07/22/2021 Verified GIS in EC.
