Verify that <br /> the means of communication are functional at the work site shall be carried out prior to <br /> each shift. <br /> • An electronic device such as a cell phone or text messaging device may be used for this <br /> purpose only if reception in the area is reliable . If an electronic device will not furnish <br /> reliable communication in the work area , the employer will ensure a means of summoning <br /> emergency medical services is available . <br /> • Emergency response procedures are to include effective communication and response to <br /> signs and symptoms of heat illness in addition to any need to contact emergency <br /> services . <br /> • If an individual needs to be evacuated to an Emergency Medical Facility, The Company <br /> will have that person moved to an area that is EASILY ACCESSIBLE for EMT pickup . <br /> This would normally be at the edge of the roadway in front of thejobsite . <br /> • If there is a clear roadway or pathway for an EMT vehicle to access , the affected <br /> individual could stay within the jobsite .
