CONCRETE, INC. <br /> STORM WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PROGRAM <br /> EMPLOYEE TRAINING <br /> Concrete, Inc, facilities are covered by a federal permit which requires the company to <br /> have a program to prevent pollutants from entering the storm water that runs off <br /> company plant sites. Potential pollutants include: <br /> "* Oli, grease and hydraulic fluid <br /> Diesel fuel and gasoline <br /> Solvent a <br /> Cement and concrete admixtures <br /> *" Rock and sand <br /> Runoff that contains pollutants could damage water quality, if it gets into nearby creeks, <br /> rivers or other bodies of water. In order to prevent water pollution and to comply with the <br /> company's storm water pollution prevention program the following practices are <br /> required. <br /> ALL EMPLOYEES <br /> 1 . Do not litter. Pick up trash and put It In a trash container. <br /> 2 . Report any spills or leaks of diesel, oil, admixtures or other pollutants, <br /> 3. Report any discharges from company property, other than storm water or discharges <br /> to a sanitary sewer. <br /> TRUCK SHOP ANb WAREHOUSE PERSONNEL <br /> 1 . Keep absorbent handy at possible spill areas, Place used absorbent in a container <br /> labeled "Absorbent" or "Floor Sweep <br /> 2 . Put hazardous wastes, e.9, used oil and spent solvent, In a container labeled <br /> "Hazardous Waste," <br /> 3. Store hazardous materials and wastes inside, under cover or In a container with a <br /> 4 . Immediately clean up minor spills of oil, grease, diesel, gasoline, antifreeze and <br /> solvent, Major spills and leaks must be Immediately contained and reported to the <br /> Plant manager. <br /> 5. Regularly inspect all hazardous materials and hazardous waste containers. If a <br /> container is damaged or leaking, place it in an undamaged container. Clean up and <br /> dispose of any spilled material, <br /> 6, Containers of hazardous liquids must be placed in a secondary container (e.g, a tub <br /> or tank) with a capacity equal to 11 o% of the volume of the hazardous liquid <br /> container. <br /> 7. Regularly maintain compressors and Inspect them for leaks. Contain leaks with a <br /> drip pan. Immediately repair the leak. <br /> 8. Store batteries and brake shoes Inside or under cover, , <br /> 9. Regularly maintain equipment and inspect for leaks, Repair leaks immediately. <br />
