HazeIton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: ARAMARK Uniform & Career Apparel, LLC — Spill Incident #COJAF8AMO
Dear Ms. Florido:
This letter is follow-up to the notification of the spill occurring at our facility located at 7679 S.
Longe Street, Stockton on Wednesday, September 1st.
At approximately 6:00am on the referenced date, we discovered our wastewater pit reached
capacity subsequently overflowing into our boiler/mechanical room. Unfortunately, some of the
wastewater breached the containment area at the overhead door and we estimate approximately
20-25 gallons of wastewater discharged into the parking lot and into the northside parking lot
area. A call was placed to County dispatch at approximately 8:00am to provide notification of the
incident.
The wastewater which collected in the parking lot did not leave the property or affect any storm
drain conduit since the "safe-drain" protection valve system was in the closed position. A pump
was utilized to remove the water from the valve vault and place into a plastic tote. The
wastewater was then discharged back into our pretreatment system sump pump and processed
through the treatment system. Additionally, the affected parking lot area and "safe-drain" valve
vault was pressure washed and cleaned to remove any residuals. The water used during clean-
up was also directed back into the wastewater sump for processing through the pretreatment
system.
The cause of this incident was a failure of a level control system in the wastewater holding pit.
We are currently working on corrective measures to repair the level control system and
notification alarms for high level on this system. We are also working on corrective measures to
repair the level controls on the water tank that you observed in the boiler room to eliminate the
overflow. While these repairs are being conducted, we stationed an employee with the
wastewater pit room to monitor the pit levels and surrounding area to try and mitigate any future
overflows or water discharge from the building.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding this issue. If you should have any
questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at
707-601-6562.
Sincerely,
Aaron Spehling
General Manager of Production
