Do not irrigate fields treated with endosulfan for 72 hours following application . 7. Do not apply more than 1 . 5 lbs. a. i , /acre/application . Orchard crops and strawberries are exempted . 4. A minimum 00 foot buffer zone shall exist between the treated or-ea and a drain or ._anal to contain irrigation/rain runoff before it is discharged into surface waters. The buffer zone may be a fallow field , pasture land or an untreated portion of the field . AERIAL... APPLICATION 5 . Endosulfa.n shall not be discharged at a height of more than .10 feet above the crop or target . Disc!-urge shall be shutoff whenever it is necessary to raise the equipment over obstacles such as trees or poles. 6. Do not apply endosulfan when the wind velocity exceeds 10 miles per hour (m . p. h. ) . 7. The flow of liquid to aircraft nozzles shall be controlled by a positive shutoff system as follows : ( 1 ) each individual nozzle shall be equipped with a check. valve and the flow controlled by a suck:back: deviC-2 or a boom pressure release device; or (2) each individual nozzle shall be equipped tai{:h a positive action valve. ^o . Aircraft nozzles shall not be equipped with any device or mechanism which would cause a sheet , cone, fan , or similar type dispersion of the dis- charged material , except as otherwise provided . 9, Aircraft boom pressure shall not exceed 40 psi. = .10. Aircraft nozzles shall be equipped with orifices directed backwards, parallel to the horizontal axis of the aircraft in flight. 11 . Fixed wing aircraft and helicopters operating in excess of 60 m . p. h. shall be equipped with jet nozzles having an orifice of not less than 1/6 inch in diameter. 12. ,-Helicopters operating at 60 m. p. h> or less shall be equipped as follows; ( 1 ) nozzles having an orifice not less than 1/16 inch in diameter , a number 46 (or equivalent) or larger whirlplate may be used ; or (2) fan nozzles with a fan angle number not larger than eO degrees and a flow rate not les- than one gallon per minute at 0 psi (or equivalent) ; or- (3) the Nicr-ofoil (R) boom (a coordinanted spray system including airfoil shaped nozzles with each orifice not less than 0.01' inches in diameter) . 1_, The working boom length on fixed wing aircraft shall not exceed 3/4 of the wing span . The working boom length on helicopters shall not exceed 6/7 of the total rotor- length or 3/4/ of the total rotor length where the rotor length exceeds -forty (40) feet. Last Page : :
