IM <br />9 01 <br />04 January 2013 <br />AGE -NC Project No. 12-2179 <br />Page 9 of 16 <br />Once the specific hazard has been identified, appropriate clothing can be selected. The <br />protection level assigned must match the hazard confronted. Protective clothing <br />ensembles range from safety glasses, hard hats, and safety shoes to fully encapsulating <br />suits with a supplied source of breathing air. <br />The selection of appropriate PPE is specified in the task hazard analyses found at the site <br />and upgrade criteria will be based upon on-site monitoring results. In addition, guidance <br />concerning._the appropriate levels of protection, which should be utilized during site <br />activities. <br />Head Protection <br />Employees will wear hard hats during outdoor site investigation activities. Ear protection <br />and face shields may be attached to hard hats, if required. <br />Eye Protection <br />Eye protection will be worn at all times, meeting the following requirements: <br />• Provide adequate protection against the particular hazards for which they are <br />designed. <br />• Be reasonably comfortable when underthe designated conditions, fitsnuglyand not <br />unduly interfere with the wearer's movement. <br />• Be durable. <br />• Be easily cleaned and disinfected. <br />Contact lenses do not provide adequate eye protection. Contact lens wearers must use the <br />same additional eye protection as for non -lens wearers. Contact lenses may be worn under <br />full -face respirators (if required to be worn), but are generally not acceptable with half -face <br />respirators. <br />Persons whose vision requires correction which cannot be maintained by the use of <br />contact lenses and are required to wear eye protection may wear goggles or spectacles <br />of one of the following types: <br />Spectacles whose protective lenses provide optical correction (Rx). <br />Goggles that can be worn over corrective (Rx) spectacles without disturbing the <br />Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. <br />
