04 January 2013
AGE -NC Project No. 12-2179
The following requirements shall apply to the use of any PPE:
• All personnel involved in site characterization and backfill of soil will be suited in
Level D PPE unless otherwise directed.
• Personnel will utilize only equipment that has been provided for use at the Project
sites.
• Designation of appropriate PPE is the responsibility of the Site Superintendent.
• All PPE will be properly fitted to the individual user.
Level D PPE
Typical Level D Equipment List include:
• Long pants and long sleeve shirts or short sleeve shirts or dirt resistant cotton
coveralls.
• NIOSH -approved dust masks.
• Chemical -resistant (e.g., nitrile) inner gloves - when appropriate.
• Leather Work gloves outer gloves.
• Hard hat.
• Safety glasses (face shield).
• Steel toed slip resistant safety boots.
• Hearing protection (as required).
• Safety vest with reflective elements.
Where work tasks require handling of samples/sampling equipment, which presents only
a limited potential for skin contact with contaminated materials, personnel will utilize Level
D PPE. Acceptable gloves must be constructed of nitrile or butyl -rubber compounds, and
must be watertight. Leatherwork gloves may be used overthe chemically -protective gloves
to provide better physical protection, however such gloves will require disposal at the
conclusion of work, since proper decontamination is not feasible.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
