SPCC TRAINING OUTLINE - GENERAL SPCC AWARENESS <br /> This document presents topics to assist your Branch with completion of the annual SPCC Plan <br /> training. Branches that have an SPCC Plan must ensure that all employees involved in the <br /> handling of petroleum products receive this training annually. This training must be documented <br /> and is required each year, Training may be completed at your Monthly Safety Meeting. File a <br /> copy of the annual training documentation (topics covered and sign-in sheet) with your SPCC <br /> Plan. <br /> As you get started, please have a copy of the SPCC Plan available during the training <br /> session. <br /> Why the SPCC Plan is Required? <br /> • A Federal regulation requires a facility with a significant amount of bulk fuel and oil <br /> storage to have an SPCC Plan. <br /> SPCC Plan Location <br /> • Identify where the SPCC Plan is kept at your Branch. <br /> - The Plan should be readily available in case of a spill or an inspection; not locked in <br /> an office. <br /> What is required by this Regulation? <br /> • An SPCC Plan includes the following: <br /> - Certification from the Facility Manager <br /> - Certification by a Professional Engineer <br /> - Emergency contacts (Prominently display this information at your Branch) <br /> - Description of your Branch and its operations <br /> - Measures to reduce or eliminate a spill <br /> - Facility diagram with drainage illustrated <br /> - List of all oil/fuel containers 55 gallons and larger <br /> - Monthly Tank Inspection form <br /> - Spill reporting form <br /> - Annual training sign-in sheet <br /> • The SPCC Plan must be kept up to date using written corrections. <br /> - If changes are needed other than names and numbers of contacts. <br /> - The Plan must also be recertified by the Facility Manager every 5 years. <br /> 1 of 3 <br />
