Erb Way, Tracy, Ca. 95304
APN: 248-230-09, SR0084985
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading Study (SSNL) dated March 9, 2022 for the above noted location and has the following comments for
your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term nitrate loading impact to groundwater from the proposed
addition of one bedroom to the OWTS usage from a three (3) bedroom single family residence (SFR) and the
addition of a two bedroom mobile home.
Based on the information provided the EHD can make the following findings:
a. Based on the information provided the EHD finds that the SSNL Study does not support the suitability
for standard OWTS usage for the proposed development pursuant to San Joaquin Development Title
9, Section 9-1105.2(d). The proposed OWTS usage will cause a long term buildup of Nitrate -Nitrogen
in the groundwater of 15 mg/L; this is above the acceptable Maximum Contamination Limit of 10 mg/L
established by the California Water Resources Control Board.
b. EHD requires an OWTS designed by a California Registered Engineer. Submit engineered OWTS
design plans under a service request form to this department. The design must mitigate the excessive
long term buildup of Nitrate -Nitrogen in the groundwater from the proposed OWTS usage (OWTS
Standards Section 7.1).
c. Annual operating permit is required, Fee for annual operation permit is due at time of OWTS permit
application (OWTS Standards Section 2.10).
d. Percolation test conducted on February 23, 2022 yields a percolation rate of 6.94 min/inch. At this rate
an 8 foot soil separation is required between bottom of dispersal field and groundwater (San Joaquin
County OWTS Standard Table 1.10.2). Groundwater is reported at 85 to 90 feet below surface.
If you have any questions please contact Aldara Salinas, Environmental Health Specialist, at
asalinas@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3019.
1 Y Steven Shin, REHS
Program Coordinator
CC: Abby Racco, LiveOak Geo Environmental, Inc. 407 W.
