In <br />doing so, we would like to request a variance authorizing qualified CESQGs to transport and deliver to <br />the collection events, hazardous wastes in excess of the quantity limitations imposed pursuant to <br />California Health and Safety Code (H & SC) sections 25143, 25160 and 25163(a). <br />BACKGROUND <br />The County of San Joaquin operates THHWC events on a rotating basis throughout the County <br />approximately 9 times per year. A CESQG collection event is frequently held in coordination with these <br />collection events. In order to better service the CESQG customers, the County would like to obtain a <br />variance to allow customers to transport up to 100 kg of waste to the collection event. <br />PROPOSED VARIANCE <br />The County of San Joaquin Department of Public Works is requesting a variance from H&S Code <br />Sections 25143, 25160 and 25163(a) allowing CESQG customers to transport up to 100 kg (220 lbs or <br />approximately 27 gallons) of waste to the THHWCF, without the use of a manifest, hazardouse waste <br />transportation insurance, or being a registered hazardous waste transporter. We have included the States <br />Application for Hazardous Waste Activity Variance in addition to a list of site locations and EPA ID <br />numbers (Attachment 1). <br />Thank you for your attention to this matter.
