09 December 2021
Project No. 14-3002

precleaned and certified 4-oz, Teflon-lined closure, wide-mouth clear glass sample
containers (sample jars). Sample jars will be labeled with sample location, depth, time,
date, and sampler's initials and then placed in a container with sufficient ice and
transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a California Environmental Laboratory
Accreditation Program (ELAP)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:

 Percent (%) moisture in accordance with ASTM D2216-05.
 PCBs (dry weight) in accordance with EPA Method 8082 (Ultrasonic EPA SW 846
Method 3550C extraction method).

If elevated concentrations of PCBs are detected in surface samples, AGI will schedule a
meeting with USEPA, CVRWQCB and EHD staff to discuss potential adjustments and
modifications to the trenching plan. An addendum to the work plan may be required to
outline procedures and protocols for managing soil excavated during trenching activities.

4.2. TRENCHING AND SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS

AGI proposes to advance a total of 28 trenches throughout the undeveloped areas at the
subject property to locate and identify buried waste and delineate the waste if
encountered. Trenches will be excavated to total depths of seven (7) feet below surface
grade (bsg) or until native hardpan soil is encountered. Trenches will be excavated using
a backhoe or mini excavator equipped with a 24-inch excavator bucket. Excavated soil
will be stockpiled adjacent to the trenches for inspection. Soil and waste (if encountered)
will be visually classified by AGI personnel in accordance with the USCS or type of
materials encountered and documented on a trench log. Following soil inspection and
classification, the excavated soil will be placed back into the trenches and tire-compacted
with the backhoe or excavator. A California Professional Geologist or AGI staff member
working under the direct supervision of a California Professional Geologist will be onsite
during all field work to perform the work, observe field activities, classify soil, and waste
and make judgements about trenching and sample collection.

Based on previous investigations, buried wastes have been identified beneath the
undeveloped areas starting at approximately 3 to 4 feet bsg. Soil samples will be collected
at three (3) feet bsg in two locations from each trench to assess potential PCB impact.
Soil samples will be collected from the backhoe or excavator bucket and hand-packed
into sample jars. Sample jars will be labeled with sample location, depth, time, date, and
sampler's initials and then placed in a container with sufficient ice and transported under
chain-of-custody procedure to a California ELAP-certified laboratory for the following
constituents:

 Percent (%) moisture in accordance with ASTM D2216-05.
 PCBs (dry weight) in accordance with EPA Method 8082 (Ultrasonic EPA SW 846
Method 3550C extraction method).
