Approximately, 5 gallons was release onto the <br />facility. <br />OBSERVATIONS: <br />Arrived on-site and met with Dewayne Liles, Project Manager 1 of US Ecology, who stated the pH of the spilled liquid was <br />13. Observed shipping container (RNLU100129) was unloaded and rinsed with water and wiped down with rags. The 250 <br />gallon tote was placed into the leaker pit to be cleaned. Per Juan Ramirez, US Ecology cleaner, a 250 gallon tote containing <br />sodium hypochlorite had a punctured a fourth way from the bottom caused by a metal rod inside the shipping container. Two <br />blue 55 gallon drums contained rinset and two blue 55 gallon drums contained rags and other solids placed in the leaker pit. <br />Crew member pH the cleaned surface to be 11. Removed all sign of contamination inside the container, underneath the <br />container and inside the leaker pit. Notified EHD to visit the site to verify clean up. John Brainard indicated the container was <br />taken off the train and took to park when leak was detected. The container was immediately brought to the leaker pit area. <br />Clean up all released material and dispose of it under all appropriate waste manifesting and waste disposal laws and <br />regulations. The disposal of any hazardous waste, or the causing thereof, is prohibited when the disposal is at a facility <br />which is not permitted or authorized for hazardous waste disposal. [HSC 25189.5 (a).] Please be aware that all hazardous <br />waste shall be disposed of under appropriate hazardous waste manifesting procedure [HSC 25160 (b)(3)].
