Mike Smith
September 11,2002
Page 2
prior to the percolation test. A four(4)hour percolation test was conducted on both the shallow
and deep percolation tests on September 11, 2002. The end of the test was observed by Mr.
Steven Shih, Inspector for SJC PHS-EHD. Please refer to the attached percolation test form for
the field measurements. The following table summaries the results of the percolation test.
Summary of Percolation Tests
Boring Time Period of Test,Date Test Depth Percolation Rate
Shallow* Four(4)hour test, September 11,2002 25 feet 62.5 minutes per inch
Deep** Four(4)hour test, September 11,2002 3 feet 8.9 minutes per inch
* Acceptable shallow percolation rate is less than or equal to 60 min/in.
** Acceptable deep percolation rate is less than or equal to 30 min/in.
In summary, the site appears to be suitable for a standard septic system with leach lines
and seepage pits in accordance with the requirements of the County of Sacramento, Department
of Health, Environmental Health Branch. The shallow percolation rate of 62.5 minutes per inch
was found to be unsatisfactory and above the County's maximum rate of 60 minutes per inch (60
t t___ __ Li_\ TL_ a L__
minutes per inch and leas i acceptable'). iiic UVUP FCIUVIduVii LcL wd ivuriu Lo rrdVe air a
satisfactory percolation rate of 8.9 minutes per inch(30 minutes per inch and less is acceptable)
therefore the area is suitable for a septic system utilizing seepage pits.
Our professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our
recommendations proposed in accordance with generally accepted engineering principles and
practices.
