All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #10 Disinfectant Residual MAJOR OBSERVATIONS: The chlorine level is at 0 ppm. The pool shall remain closed until the Environmental Health Department can recheck and confirm that the chlorine level is between 2-10 ppm. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Public pools, when open or in use, shall be disinfected continuously by approved chemicals and shall maintain the following concentrations: 1.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine without cyanuric acid, 2.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine with cyanuric acid or 2.0 ppm bromine. Spas, wading pools, and spray grounds shall maintain the following concentrations: 3.0 ppm to 10.0 ppm free chlorine or 4.0 ppm bromine. (CCR 65529) #8 Pool and Deck Lighting OBSERVATIONS: The pool light switch and GFCI could not be located. The maintenance person said the lights are on a timer and come on at dark. Locate the switch and make sure the GFCI works properly by 2 days. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pools used at night shall be equipped with underwater light fixtures that provide complete illumination of the pool. When a pool is used at night, pool deck and emergency egress areas shall be provided with lighting. If underwater or deck lighting is not operational, the pool operator shall post a sign in 4-inch letters stating "NO USE OF POOL ALLOWED AFTER DARK" and shall secure the pool area and not permit any use of the pool after dark. (3115B) #14 Chemical Water Test Kit OBSERVATIONS: The pool maintenance is not checking the pool chemistry daily. Test the water chemistry and record it daily. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain a test kit for measuring the disinfectant residual, combined chlorine, pH, and cyanuric acid (if used) at the pool. Test kit shall be available at all times the pool is in use. Chlorine and bromine test kits shall be DPD type. Chlorine test kits shall be capable of testing for free and total chlorine, so that combined chlorine concentrations can be determined. (CCR 65529) #17 Cleanliness of Pool OBSERVATIONS: The south end of the pool wall has algae buildup and the bottome of the pool has lots of dirt and debris. Clean these areas of the pool today. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: Pool operator shall maintain clean pool water while the pool is in use and shall not allow debris to accumulate in the pool. Pool operator shall clean the bottom, sides, and other surfaces of the pool as often as necessary to keep pool surfaces clean and free of slime and algae.
