Per Aaron, a small fire started in the soil area
(located at the northwest corner of the building) which triggered the fire suppression system. Only one sprinkler head was
triggered above a container of clean white towels. Aaron states that clean, washed, and dried towels can spontaneously
combust if not properly cooled. The water discharged from the sprinkler system flowed into the north parking lot and into a
storm drain. Per Aaron, the storm drain leads to a county pump station north of the building. I walked through the northwest
corner of the building and did not observe any soiled laundry that was impacted by the sprinkler system. There was water on
the ground and I did not observe any sheen, staining, or notice any odor. There was water pooling over a storm drain in the
north parking lot. Per Aaron, the valve was closed upon his arrival. I did not notice any sheen, staining, or odors in the north
parking lot. The pump station was not accessible for inspection. Per Aaron the pump station discharges through three
underground pipes that are observable west of the pump station. I inspected the area and there was no indication that water
has been discharged from the pump station.
Please be advised that the disposal of any waste [HSC 5411] or disposal of any hazardous waste, or the causing thereof, is
prohibited when the disposal is at a facility that is not permitted or authorized for hazardous waste disposal.
