INTRODUCTION
Valley Ag Research has provided the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(PHS-
EHD)with information, data, research and reporting on agricultural and environmental health issues
for the past decade. We have been requested by Mr. Dave Olmstead and Mr. Roger Elissagaray of
Linne Estates, LLC to provide PHS-EHD with information regarding the CSA-44A well to supply
for the proposed Linne Estates subdivision project. The Environmental Health Department has
expressed concerns regarding not only the future water supply for this project, but also their need to
fully understand the groundwater supply situation in the Tracy locale. Specifically, PHS-EHD has
requested additional information on the following public health concerns:
• Water Quantity
• Water Quality
• Overdraft
• Potential Drawdown Effects
This report addresses information on the above concerns as they pertain mostly to the proposed CSA-
44A water well, which has been drilled but not completed. This boring is at the south end of Apricot
Lane, and is located within a one square mile section referred to as the "Valpico Section." A
Department of Water Resources (DWR) Well Completion Report and Electric `B"-Log exists for
this boring and is found in the Appendices.
A report entitled Groundwater Management Policy -Mitigated Negative Declaration was prepared
for the City of Tracy by P.M.C.-Pacific Municipal Consultants of Sacramento,California. Located
in Appendix"A"of the P.M.C. document is the Estimated Groundwater Yield for the City of Tracy
Report prepared by Bookman-Edmonston Engineering. Both documents reference a study of the
Tracy area groundwater completed in 1990 by the engineering firm of Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton
entitled Final Report:Tracy Area Groundwater Yield Evaluation. Since groundwater use by the City
of Tracy affects all surrounding groundwater use, these three documents contain data and
information which will be used in this report to give PHS-EHD information to address their concerns
referenced above.
It is our understanding that there is to be two CSA-44A wells. Our report does not address well
design, predicted well yield and specific water volume needed by the CSA-44A wells to meet all
demands (domestic, fire, commercial, public facilities, etc.).
In addition to the documents referenced above, reports and studies published by the Department of
Water Resources (DWR) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) have been used as
references in both the documents presented above and in this Groundwater Information report. We
have also consulted two publications for scientific concurrence with the data and information
presented in the Bookman-Edmonston and Kennedy/Jenks reports. These two books are
Groundwater and Wells and Groundwater, two highly respected and utilized books on these subjects.
All of the publications listed above are referenced in the Reference Section of this report.
Page -1-
tia(Iey Ag Research
